Laura King is currently pursuing her MFA in playwriting as a member of the Playwright’s Lab at Hollins University. Laura works as an instructor of theatre at Gordon State College. She has had several short plays produced in the recent past: For Annie’s Sake (Tesseract Theatre, St Louis, MO, and Tiger Lily Theatre, Knoxville, TN), Mirror, Mirror (Tiger Lily Theatre, Knoxville, TN), Boy Meets Girl (Spokane Stage Left, Spokane, WA), Kitty of Sawbuck City (Red Eye 10s Coast-to-Coast Play Festival and Punk Monkey Productions, Los Angeles, CA), Resignation (Red Eye 10s Coast-to-Coast Play Festival), The Game (The Spot’s Original Works Festival, Arroyo Grande, CA), Christmas in Harmony (Lionheart Theatre), and Far From Connecticut (Onion Man Productions). Laura’s one-act plays Fallout and Fact Check placed first and second in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region IV One-Act Play Contest. Fact Check premiered at the New Seeds Festival in Tampa, FL, in March 2014. Her full-length plays Blood Will Out (New Origins Theatre Company, Atlanta, GA) and Independence Day at Happy Meadows (Showtimers Theatre, Roanoke, VA) are premiering in June 2014.
